We are saddened to share the sudden transition of one of our founders,
Peter Debelak of Soulcraft Woodshop  Please allow us time to integrate this news and begin carving a new path forward in honor of his legacy to woodworking, the community he loved, and our shared vision.

Our Community Coffin Club began here in Cleveland in April of 2020. We enjoyed four wonderful sessions, had several solid coffin designs in the works, potlucks and music was soon to follow as part of our gatherings. Our ability to meet was unfortunately paused by Covid 19 - We were excited and poised to begin again the fall of 2022.

These Elderly DIY-ers Explored Death
by Crafting Their Own Coffins

The Coffin Club was founded in 2010, a few years after Williams told a meeting of fellow students at the University of the Third Age – a global organization that offers study programs for seniors – that she wanted to build her own coffin.

“God knows why I got up and did that,” she says, chuckling.
“But when the meeting finished there were all these people lining up to talk to me. So I realized it wasn’t such a spooky idea; it was a sensible one.”
